For the Leonardo Da Vinci Exhibition at the V&A
Evolution Synthetica is a symbiotic performance of evolving sound and image. Live experiments describing evolutionary processes use generative sound synthesis, microscopy, macro footage and live generative digital animation to create a sensory spectacle bridging art and science.
Experimenter En Couleur and Shroomstudio present two half hour shows of Evolution Synthetica at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Evolution is expressed with live chemical and biological experiments portraying gasses, liquids, crystals, single-cell organisms, multi-cellular organisms and insects, right through to humans and computer-based organisms. Each stage is presented with sound and visuals. Assorted microphones and cameras sample live data from sound and visuals simultaniously, to feed, influence and feedback on each other. The performance becomes a generative organism in itself, an endless cycle of life.
Experimenter En Couleur continues to develop connections and interactivity between live organisms of the performance and the digital domain.
